I have never watched any porn with Ron Jeremy, to tell you the truth I don't think I could he's pretty... unattractive. This documentary was very interesting and sad. I kind of feel sorry for the guy. So he has sex with all these hot women, his life looks empty. I think he's treated as a sex machine. It doesn't look like he's had many real relationships and he desperately wants to be a mainstream movie star.

I see on Wikipedia that this movie was originally titled "He comes in Peace". Glad they didn't go with that. Anyho, this documentary follows Carter on his book tour for the book "Palestine: Peace not apartheid" and how the shit hits the fan because of the title, the subject, and misinterpretations. Carter's composure while being attacked is inspiring.

I am kicking myself for not listening sooner, my friend Jonah posted a blog about this on Tribe MONTHS ago... And it has been in the back of my head, but the back is not at
all where it belongs.

You really want to make time to watch this film. I have been shocked by films before, but this one by far takes the lead.

I have never come to realize how much I did not know.
I have never felt so pissed off, or moved by a film.
I have never felt so compelled to spread the word about something...
All I know is, you REALLY NEED TO SEE THIS FILM.

Your religion is based on Astrology (not shocking).

9-11 CLEARLY was an inside job.

Did you know Dubba's Grandfather was basically a Nazi?

Oh, let's also talk about Tracking devices that are to LITERALLY GOING TO BE IMPLANTED IN U.S. CITIZENS TO TRACK EVERY SINGLE MOVE WE MAKE... Um, you think the book 1984 was scary... ? Well, welcome to reality. IT IS HAPPENING.
Even my new Passport has a tracking device, I'm mad at myself for not getting one sooner.

I am sickened by how asleep most people are. Far more sickened by the people that are going leaps and bounds to make sure it stays that way.
Why? Well, a union of people that were aware of all the people behind the curtains and their intentions would be OUTRAGED. THERE WOULD HAVE BE A REVLOT!

I know many people get tired of my political jabber.... But SOMETHING AS TO CHANGE!!!! When are people going to wake the fuck up?!

If you are in San Francisco, there is a meeting here on May 15th:
Third Eye Lounge
540 Howard st
San Francisco	TIME: 7:30 PM

I will be there, no doubt. I hope you will consider standing with me, or at least hearing what they have to say.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WATCH THIS MOVIE!
And PLEASE, SPREAD THE WORD!
SOMETHING HAS TO CHANGE, WE MUST NOT STAND FOR THIS!!!

-- Kellie

From the Website:

Welcome to the Official Site for 'Zeitgeist, the Movie.'
Since the emergence of the work in late June, 2007, many other websites,
organizations and posts have fallaciously claimed connections to the work.
Please note that 'Zeitgeist', along with this site, has no direct affiliation with
anything else online.

Zeitgeist, produced by Peter Joseph, was created as a nonprofit filmiac expression to
inspire people to start looking at the world from a more critical perspective and to understand that
very often things are not what the population at large think they are. The information in Zeitgeist
was established over a year long period of research and the current Source page on
this site lists the basic sources used / referenced and the Interactive Transcript includes
exact source references and further information.

Now, it's important to point out that there is a tendency to simply disbelieve things that are
counter to our understanding, without the necessary research performed.
For example, some information contained in Part 1 and Part 3, specifically, is not obtained
by simple keyword searches on the Internet. You have to dig deeper. For instance,
very often people who look up "Horus" or "The Federal Reserve" on the Internet
draw their conclusions from very general or biased sources. Online encyclopedias or text book
Encyclopedias often do not contain the information contained in Zeitgeist. However, if one takes
the time to read the sources provided, they will find that what is being presented is
based on documented evidence. Any corrections, clarifications & further points regarding the film
are found on the Clarifications page. Non-Profit DVDs / Free Video Downloads are
available through the Downloads page.

That being said, It is my hope that people will not take what is said
in the film as the truth, but find out for themselves, for truth is not told, it is realized.

Thank You

The Invisible Skratch Piklz, pioneers of the team battle and winners (3 yrs in a row in the early 1990's) of the World DMC's. Member Qbert has long been regarded as the best scratch artist on earth, and Mix Master Mike became the DJ for the Beastie Boys. They disbanded in 2000 and are all working separately now. Qbert recently invented the QFO, a single turntable/mixer instrument.
DJ Mike Relm. If you're ever lucky enough to catch him on tour, you'll be treated to some synchronized music and cinematic montage. The fuker sets up a live system where he has edited footage (mostly from random films) that he can manipulate when scratching his vinyl.

He then got signed onto the Ruff Ryders label but his debut album flopped. He has been releasing albums with other labels since and continuing to win MC battles all over the world.
America's disproportionate reporting on white, attractive, female victims of crime has been a topic I've wanted to cover in a film for a few years now. Below is the mess of thoughts and observations I hope to someday put together into a cohesive documentary. Brutally honest feedback would be appreciated.

IF I WAS A GIRL
...I never would've even been born, literally. My parents really wanted a boy and tried three times unsuccessfully. After my three sisters, I was on the way, but due to China's anti-overpopulation policies, my parents weren't even supposed to be having any more children. My mom told me that the nurses let her slide because I turned out to be a boy. So Chinese attitudes (not now but back then) around boys versus girls make up the main reason I was conceived and delivered, and thus gender issues are sort of personal to me.

PROSTITUTION, THE WORLD'S OLDEST PROFESSION
In high school I developed an interest in the criminology and psychology of serial killers. A statistic that always stood out for me was the high percentage of victims being prostitutes. One reason street hookers make easy targets is because the illegality and stigma of their work prevents them from approaching police, reporters, and doctors like other victims. Furthermore, do law enforcers and the media treat serial murder cases with less urgency if they involve victims with unconventional lifestyles or jobs? And how is being a woman different in a country such as Amsterdam where sex work is regulated like any other business and where rates of rape, assault, and STD infections on prostitutes are much lower?

DRUGS
Decades ago, opium, cocaine, and marijuana became illegal because, according to the media, Chinese, black, and Mexican men - respectively - were using the substances to seduce or sexually assault white women. Protecting white females as a catalyst for drug prohibition persists to this day, in far more subtle ways. Before Bill Clinton left office, he signed an anti-GHB bill in honor of teenager Hillory Farias who had fell into a fatal coma after having drank something spiked with the depressant chemical. Had Farias not been white, could her overdose have sparked so much attention in the media and led to the criminalization of GHB?

Come to think of it, what is the rate of teenagers of color experiencing such tragedies around drug misuse or abuse? I certainly don't know because reporters don't bring it up. Following the news for my work with DanceSafe.org, every story I saw about anyone who became addicted to or overdosed on ecstasy had the same profile: a middle-class white kid whose life in school and home was perfect before drugs ruined everything. How these reports highlighted the kids goes to show that the definition of an all-American teenager is still a very narrow and false one. According to the media, you should be happy if you're white and on the football team and getting crowned at your prom.

YOUNG, PRETTY, AND ALL-AMERICAN
My sisters were discussing the discovery of Laci Peterson's body one evening and I asked who they were talking about. Sarah asked if I had been asleep the past year to not know about this girl. The reason was that I never watch television or follow the news except for work. I don't see the point in obsessing with such cases - as tragic as they are - because every story is the same. And this brings me to a few more questions:

1) What populations of American women are being ignored by the media?
2) Why does this happen from a news industry perspective?
3) Does more coverage equal better investigations of cases?

Is the focus on the all-American damsel in distress promoting a certain idea of what girls are or should be? Firstly, reporters eulogize each victim as a successful student, loving housewife, or some other socially acceptable role model. Secondly, attractive images of the victim are circulated throughout headlines. What sickened me most about the coverage of Laci Peterson was that the shot of her cute dimple-faced smile was published repeatedly even though her head wasn't even attached to her body anymore. I'm sorry, but this is exploitation, not sympathy. If the media only values sexually appealing, well-behaved females, then is their reporting trend executed out of respect and sorrow, or out of a desire to objectify women and keep them in their place?

COMPARED TO MEN...
The focus on pretty white girls doesn't just exclude the majority of real female victims, but also the majority of male victims. Violent crime reporting in general reflects the urge to promote traditional gender roles - females as complacent, passive victims and males as aggressive perpetrators. The only major coverage on the assault or murder of a man occurs when the assailant is a woman. Because the context of women supposedly being well-behaved has already been established, a case like this will seem especially sensational and unique.

This ideology is shared by our justice system. Women are now being imprisoned at a much faster rate than men, and their crimes - like the ones of their male counterparts - are often drug-related. The sentences they serve are often longer and harsher for the exact same offenses. Why is this? Take any judge or prosecutor or juror who believes women are supposed to be nurturing, gentle mothers and caregivers, and present them with a woman charged of drugs or violence, and how do you think they'll react? In essence, when men commit assault or abuse their children, it is natural and acceptable compared to when women do it, and American courts are acting accordingly.

Well Michael Moore is one of my favorite filmmakers ever and "Bowling for Columbine" is the main reason I decided to get into documentaries. With that said, he isn't what he used to be. I've been thinking about it and "Sicko" kind of sucked ass. No doubt he had compelling info in it but overall it was flat and predictable. Here are my three main points against the film....

1) The story didn't really make me think outside the box. He is always accused of being one-sided and polarizing issues which is sort of true but I didn't mind it in his previous films. With "Bowling for Columbine," for example, he presented so many issues around media, fear, and military history that after watching it I could consider gun violence within a broad context, which made the story that much more interesting. In "Sicko," it was just America's health care is bad and the other countries are good (which I agree with, no doubt), and he discussed our labor and education system but that wasn't really enough for me.

2) Some of his examples of how other countries have better health care were really weak. Like when he went around and talked to a few families and doctors to show their good standard of living, I was like what the fuck, just cuz you show a few people from that country like that, I should believe that's the norm there? And the last scene in Cuba was such a joke, just a bit too melodramatic. Those folks made one visit to a Cuban hospital and got sent back to the States where they would have to continue dealing with the American (lack of) health care system. I don't exactly think that one visit made as much of a positive impact on the patients as MM wanted us to feel, unless they would have regular access to those medical facilities after the cameras stopped rolling. It was just really cheesy to me. I think I'm a lot more skeptical and apathetic than I was several years back, so it takes more in a film to get me worked up now.

3) Last but not least, and this relates to number 1, I really don't think Moore needs to suppress any info from the other side to advance his own message. No one needs to assume other countries have perfect health care cuz they don't. My friend who lived in France for years said she had quacks for doctors, and of course there is the issue of taxes. Moore can incorporate these factors and still produce a strong conclusion that the US needs reform. Besides, taking all this into account might help people understand some of the reasons (besides corporate and political influences) why America is still like this. It's not always those in power, but also citizens who choose not to make changes. I know some people who would rather stick with our shitty system (which they don't think is shitty anyway) than cough up taxes for otherwise free health care.

Thoughts, feedback, anyone?

The house features several scenes of people involved in "sinful activities, dying and then getting hauled away to hell for their sins. Shocking on a few levels! Great documentary as the filmmakers' opinions are not front and center - the christians are often captured in positive ways, and the story partially pivots around a single dad and his interactions with the staff and final event. And the ultimate goal of Hell House is left as almost a surprise ending.

There were moments when I viscerally felt like I was back in India. The steadycam shots were impressive, especially considering the nature and logistics of shooting verite in a place as crowded and constantly bustling as India. I especially loved the driving shots from the bus- there are some great shots that truly capture what its like to drive on Indian roads... absolute chaos!

The film is about Mata Amritanandamayi Devi- known to many as Amma. She's the "hugging saint" and she travels all over the world hugging people as a representative of the divine mother. I'm a person who is pretty anti-guru but I must say that Amma's hugs are just lovely. And her charitable works are impressive. I have been rather skeptical of her for some time now, but this film really gave me a new perspective on the true scope of her works.

All in all, a really gorgeously done documentary by Dutch Filmmaker Jan Kounen. I highly recommend it for its cinematography and awe-inspiring tone even if you're not all that interested in the subject matter...

This is such a profound documentary.

Basically, they went around the world, asking folks from every walk of life and religion the same 20 questions….from Thich Nhat Hanh, Ram Dass, Deepak Chopra, a street kid in Colorado, Father Thomas Keating, Barbara Marx-Hubbard, random people on the streets all over the world, Riane Eisler, Robert Thurman, Sadhguru Jaggi Vadsudev, Atheists, The voice of his Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and many more...

The thing I love the most about it is that it doesn’t tout any one idea or way of looking at things. Instead, it shows the diversity of us all and in a simplistic way, shows that we although we may look different, have different cultures, different beliefs and different lifestyles, we are still all one humanity.

It’s documentaries like this that make wading through countless documentaries worth it.

Without resorting to conspiracy theories, Jarecki exposes the pre-eminence of the military industrial complex in American society, business and politics. He uses Dwight Eisenhower’s farewell speech (wherein the phrase “military industrial complex” was coined and where we were first warned of it) as a launching pad to show how militarized our society has become – how we have shifted from a republic to an empire, and the grave consequences that could follow. He takes his title from a series of WWII propaganda films directed by Frank Capra – with the intent to show how Americans have been propagandized to accept war and defense growth since WWII. Why we went to war in Iraq continues to unfold as a complex question (I have documented at least 8 solid reasons why we actually went to war there), but Why We Fight presents one of the most honest and compelling views of why we are fighting there, why we have waged war since WWII, and why the world does not view us the way it did after WWII.

The special features show how incisive Jareki is in real life, responding to audience Q&A, and being interviewed by Charlie Rose, and Jon Stewart on the Daily Show.

We're in the process of pulling together the program for The 2007 Anti-Corporate Film Festival (Oct. 19-21, www.countercorp.org), and are inviting cinema-savvy folks such as yourselves to recommend documentaries that include some elements or themes on how corporations affect our lives.

These can include domestic and foreign, feature-length and short docs. (The only caveat for foreign films is that they need to have English subtitles.)

If we end up screening a film that you suggest, we'll give you two free tickets to *any* film at this year's festival.

The fastest way to send us your suggestions is directly to the festival at submissions@countercorp.org.

You can also post your suggestions in reply to this post, but our volunteer staff does not check Tribe every day (unlike e-mail). If two people suggest the same film, the first suggestion we receive wins if we end up screening it.

Thanks, and look forward to hearing your ideas!

WE FEED THE WORLD is a film about food and globalization, fishermen and farmers, long-distance lorry drivers and high-powered corporate executives, the flow of goods and cash flow–a film about scarcity amid plenty. With its unforgettable images, the film provides insight into the production of our food and answers the question what world hunger has to do with us. Interviewed are not only fishermen, farmers, agronomists, biologists and the UN's Jean Ziegler, but also the director of production at Pioneer, the world's largest seed company, as well as Peter Brabeck, Chairman and CEO of Nestlé International, the largest food company in the world.
Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience
A unique documentary about troops' experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan based on writings by soldiers, Marines, and air men. Some writings were published in the New Yorker in summer 2006. A larger assortment was published as a book by Random House last September. The film drew upon the submissions by soldiers for the book. It's a remarkable portrait of troops at war - the complexities, doubts, and fears - written with honesty. The 81-minute version of the film includes 11 pieces of writing, with different visual strategies, along with interviews with the writers, and with more established American writers who are also veterans.

I was totally stunned by the eloquence of the film and the ability of the filmmakers to step back and let the subjects tell their own story. If you haven't heard about it, the filmmakers followed an infantry division in Fallujiah through their daily lives of service. This is an honest glimpse of their lives on the frontline of a war they are not quite sure why they are fighting. The conclusion is left up to the viewer to draw, but I think it makes things mighty clear that if the US doesn't do something soon, we are going to find ourselves knee-deep in the midst of a horrendous quagmire.

I was astounded by the courage of these filmmakers to step onto the frontlines and capture such candid, intimate, and yet well-photographed footage. I would say that this is documentary filmmaking at its best. Highly recommended.

Aaron Russo (noted film producer) writes, directs and narrates this documentary that attempts to show that the US is moving from a free to a police state.

I found this documentary riveting, though a bit imbalanced. Russo is trying to make an argument that the US is moving towards fascism (or in other words, corporatism). He spends almost the first hour of the movie on the illegitimacy of the Federal Income Tax. He creates a compelling argument as to why we should not pay tax - that there is no law stating we should. But i took a look at the 16th amendment last night and did research on its ratification, and it seems that everything might be more legitimate than Russo would have us believe. Anyway, it got me researching and thinking and that's a GOOD thing.

Much of the rest of the movie is dedicated to the Federal Reserve and this is really amazing stuff too, especially when counterpointed with quotes from Thomas Jefferson and the like warning of just such entities. Regardless, it's exciting to see such dissenting viewpoints.

The IMBALANCE in this documentary comes near the end, when he suddenly picks up the pace and tries to jam in a dozen or so other pro-fascism arguments, none of which are as developed as the first couple (except maybe the national ID card/biochipping). The editing is a bit crude too. This is obviously a pet project and labour of love for Russo, as he is willing to sacrifice some quality to get his word out. At the end is a really strong call to action.

Great stuff, especially if you go to Wikipedia and other sources and continue to research his claims after you watch it.

Well, I like Fatih Akin, too, very much, I have to admit, but besides their common descent (Akin's parents are from the black sea as you can learn in his documentary We forgot to go back, where Aslan's parents are from exactly I can't tell and don't care) they have nothing in common, neither in style nor in temperament nor from socialisation: Akin is from Hamburg, Arslan from Berlin. Whereas Akin's movies are usually like steamtrains or a fist pointed at your stomach, fairytales from a St Pauli Street Kid full of irony and sarcasm - Arslan's movies are quiet, reduced, minimalist and always rather as if the world was seen through a blurry window, from a distance, even when you come closer to the protagonists as in any of akin's movies there will always be the feeling of never being really able to 'grasp' them. There are other directors like him in Berlin, like Angela Schanelec for example - but they all have something rather 'french' to them: usually you don't laugh out loud and although people themselves move fast, everything seems to happen in slow-mo...

Be it in Der schoene Tag/ The beautiful Day, Kardeşler/Geschwister (Siblings) or Dealer which all of them take place in Berlin Kreuzberg, a Kreuzberg that's speaking of a district shaped by long time migration on the one hand, but far from the endlessly created clichees around it.

www.german-cinema.de/app/fil...view.php

Now this year Arslan seems to have made his 'Istanbul/Turkey' documentary just as Fatih Akın had made his one (the much praised crossing the bridge, on istanbul music scene - i won't say that i don't admire this one myself, too, one of the featured singers being a close friend of my flatmate :): Aus der Ferne/From a distance. And in a way that's striking: Akın again crossing something, cultures, the bosphorus, the east and the west and having a huge laugh on it all - and arslan: still. curious. open but keeping the distance. With Istanbul as a multiple parting point to explore a Turkey Arslan himself is rather a stranger, too, although having studied two years at Ankara.

Having not had the opportunity to see this one yet at this year's berlin film festival, because İ just wasn't there, I am still looking forward to it and recommend it to you as it was recommended to me.

Hi there,

as I am new to this tribe I should introduce myself: Markus, 28, German cultural anthropologist living in Istanbul. That's done then.

I guess from time to time I would like to bring in here, besides all the other docs I like, those from German speaking countries, because as I have lived for example in Paris for a while and as besides English speaking movies especially those from lumieres-landia can be found everywhere in the world and usually the German ones almost nowhere, I'd like to share some of these hidden but promising little blossoms with you ;-)

One of the esthetically most stunning, yet because of its content also most unsettling documentaries I have seen this year was definitely Nikolaus Geyrhalter's Unser Taeglich Brot/Our Daily Bread, an Austrian seemingly hyperrealist, yet very quiet, 'peaceful' film showing you without any commentary what you eat and were it comes from, no matter if meat or sunflower. Living at the other end of the endlessly producing food chain...

http://www.europeanfilms.net/reviews/2006/unsertaeglichbrot.html

Another one I would like to recommend to you strongly is an already rather famous one by Volker Koepp, a somewhat 'traditional' documentarist from eastern Germany with a great interest in Eastern Europe.

Herr Zwilling und Frau Zuckermann (1999) is about an old 'couple' who are two of the last surviving, German speaking Jews after the Holocaust and Migration still living in their small town of Czernowitz at the Ukrainian/Rumanian border. A portrait of the past and a present imbedded in nostalgia with the witty, laconic irony of its protagonists...

http://www.cine-holocaust.de/cgi-bin/gdq?efw00fbw002874.gd

- but everyone who's seen Stanislaw Mucha's hilarious Die Mitte (The Center) about Europe's new 'center' and where it can possibly be found, will know that these regions won't stay forever at the fringes of a continent drifting more and more to the east... :-)

See you next time, same place different content.

And by the way all people interested in 'mediterranean', 'eastern European', 'Balkan', 'middle East' documentaries having some favorites to share (as my focal point I will sımply say: Turkey, because that's where I live at the moment) please let me know :-)
SYNOPSIS
The World According to Sesame Street is a feature-length documentary, in cooperation with "Sesame Street," that explores the drama and complexities behind producing international versions of the world’s most-watched children’s television program. The documentary shows that social impact and change can come from the most unlikely sources, including a team of Muppets.

The World According to Sesame Street premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival in the documentary competition. On October 24th, PBS will broadcast the film as the premiere of the Fall 2006 Independent Lens series, as a common carriage presentation. Also on October 24th, Sony BMG will release the DVD of the film, employing a day-and-date release strategy.

I don’t mind renting equipment, but if someone already has access to equipment, and likes my idea, maybe you would like to work on this project with me? My degree is in Apparel design, but as elective classes, I chose film and editing. I am sure I am not as experienced as many of you, but I’m not completely ignorant. I don’t have experience in Pro tools.
I picked up a great book on documentary filmmaking, though, I want to branch off from traditional styles. I hope to start in September, as I am busy putting a fashion show together for B-man. I would like to interview people from the bay area, but I also fancy taking a trip to NY for a few days to interview people there, (I have someone I/we can stay with). I want to interview as many people as I/we can, then use only the best of the best. I digress, if someone wants a fall/winter project shoot me an email. I want to take this seriously, but have fun, and would like to get it into an indie film festival.

1) On-Set Assistant: Help set-up and strike the lights and sound for a basic “interview-style” film-set. Several interviews may be scheduled during the week (Thurs – Sat) throughout the SF Bay Area and elsewhere. Each interview lasts no more than two hours, necessitating a maximum 3-hour time commitment from PAs. All filming is scheduled a minimum of ten-days in advance and you will be notified upon scheduling.
2) Off-Set Assistant: Help in office by responding to e-mail & voicemail, scheduling interviews, running errands, and sending postal mail. Position may also include the possibility for grant-writing, web-design, and public relations / marketing.

COMPENSATION
Both Production Assistant positions will receive credit in the film.
1) On-Set Assistant will gain invaluable filmmaking experience and a unique opportunity to meet some of the world’s most prominent scholars and spiritual leaders of our time. We also agree to provide one “craft service” meal per shoot.
2) Off-Set Assistant will receive a percentage of whatever moneys are generated by their direct assistance with the film (in terms of grant-writing, marketing, and general public-relations).

REQUISITE SKILLS:
1) On Set Assistant:
Filmmaking Experience / Technical skills
Organized & Personable / Able to work well with others
Punctual & Efficient / Capable of receiving and accomplishing necessary tasks promptly
Grant Writing / Sufficient writing skills for drawing up proposals from grants from template
Transportation / Valid and current driver’s license and vehicle

2) Off-Set Assistant:
Secretarial Skills / Appropriate phone presence and message-keeping
Organized & Personable / Able to work well with others
Punctual & Efficient / Capable of receiving and accomplishing necessary tasks promptly
Grant Writing / Sufficient writing skills for drawing up proposals from grants from template
Transportation / Valid and current driver’s license and vehicle

All interested applicants should please send resumes (replete with contact information, all prior education and filmmaking / secretarial job experience, and no fewer than two professional references) to:
Dan@authentic-unifying.com.

Upon receipt of your resume, we will be in contact with you to schedule an in-person interview.

Individuals with access to additional resources of film production (e.g., professionals, equipment, & financing) are encouraged to apply.

We sincerely feel that this film is desperately needed to be made, not only by those who have been diagnosed with terminal illness and their caretakers, but by the culture at large who have become so blinded by the lights of youth and beauty that they have lost sight of what is most valuable.

Please help us with your time and support by contacting us directly or sending this position request to any others who you feel may be interested in working with us on this film. Together, we can begin to make the difference that makes a difference.

With kind regards,

Just as the chili travelled to the UK and changed the cuisine, people from all over the world have made Britain what it is today. The theme for the first festival is 'JOURNEY'. It can be as specific as an immigrant's tale, or as general as a neighborhood's development over the years. It can include comedies about someone's journey to work, documentaries about journeys into crime, dramas about the journeys and trials of love, animations, music videos -- if you feel that your film represents a journey, we want to see it!

The films will be shown free at a new cinema (richmix.org.uk) and will be part of a multicultural one-day event (bricklanefestival.com).

If anybody gets the Discovery Science channel (70-something on San Francisco cable I think), I suggest watching "The Real Rainman" on Friday, May 26th... It's a UK-based documentary about this guy, Kim Peak, who was supposedly the primary inspiration for Dustin Hoffman's character in "Rain Man." I worked on the California portion of this doc with the crew when they were out here, and it was really amazing and interesting. They can't quite figure out how his brain works--in some ways he is mentally disabled, and in some ways mentally supernatural (tell him your birthdate, he'l rattle off to you what day you were born on, what day of the week you turned 21, and when you'll be 65, in a matter of 10 seconds. ). The show has already won a couple of awards in the UK, and I think this is it's US debut. I had an incredible time working with them......so I am excited for it's US television premiere!

How does a construction contractor from a tough Brooklyn neighborhood become an impassioned animal advocate?

In the award-winning documentary THE WITNESS, Eddie Lama explains how he feared and avoided animals for most of his life, until the love of a kitten opened his heart, inspiring him to rescue abandoned animals and bring his message of compassion to the streets of New York.
